Bacon Cheesy Fat Bombs!

I love bacon. I love cheese. I love that my Keto diet allows me to eat fat. If you are on a Keto diet, you know how difficult it can be to keep it interesting. That’s why I’m here. I am always looking for new ways to snack and adapt old favorites. After all, I was a chef in my younger years, so I might as well put those skills to use for something good, other than my past habit of slowly killing myself.

A good low carb high fat recipe is not always easy to find. In due time, we won’t have that problem as more and more people embrace this nutritional approach, but until then, we will have to innovate and create new snacks together.

Fat bombs are all the rage in the keto world. Now, let me add this caveat; if you are doing this to lose weight, be careful with these… They pack a real calorie punch, and a weight loss approach needs to be handled differently than a therapeutic approach.

However, if you are fully adapted and you are where you need to be, this makes a nice treat and your body will not let you over indulge. Either way, know your numbers and do what is right for you.

I searched high and low for a good, savory bacon fat bomb and could not find much of anything. I found some dip, a weird one with eggs, but nothing quite like what I was craving. Now, perhaps I was impatient and didn’t look hard enough, but, I ended up just making my own.

Here are the ingredients:

8 oz cream cheese
1 stick butter
12 oz of bacon, chopped and crispy
1c shredded cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
1T basil
1T parsley
1T garlic and herb mix

Melt the butter in the microwave and transfer to a mixing bowl once melted. Place cream cheese in same bowl and microwave it until it is soft enough to mix with the butter.
Mix in bowl with salt, pepper, herbs and spices. Add 1/2 of the bacon and all of the shredded cheese. Mix together well. Once the mixture is nice and creamy, place it in your fridge to cool and harden. You need it to all come together so you can roll it into balls.
Once cooled, roll the mixture into bite sized balls. It should be the size of a decent sized home made meat ball. Maybe an ounce or two in weight. Roll it in the remaining bacon crumbles and place in a Tupperware for safe keeping. Return to fridge.

This should make about 10 balls. If you did indeed make 10, your calories will be roughly 335 kcal per bomb. 81% fat (30g) 17% protein (14g) and 2% carbohydrate (2g).

Don’t eat them all at once!!
